Happy Friday! It’s NIOtime fourth issue, and also our first Monthsary since the launch. It’s all started with a random chat among a group of passionate NIO global fans who eager to know how NIO rides the next EV wave as well as spreads the words to the world about NIO. We noticed the language gap exists in Chinese listed stock like NIO while the local information is usually delayed or unreported from NIO communities. That’s why we want to bridge that information gap and bring you the exclusive essence you need every week! Let’s first get to the technical chart.
Technical Chart
This week NIO swung lower than last week range between US$19.45 and US$ 16.75 and closed the week at US$ 18.30. In general, NIO stock performs steady despite market pull back in earlier week. It seems that USD17.00 is a strong support zone and US$20.00 is still a valid strong resistance zone. If we manage to break this level next week, we would see NIO stock flying towards its previous high level, $21.05. In addition to NIO’s September vehicle delivery number, the market sentiment is looking for any good news from Auto China 2020 on NIO OS major update and NIO power plan. We shall expect the stock to move up slowly for next week until the release of September vehicle delivery news.

47th on Fortune’s 2020 Change The World List
NIO Official Website stated that we are honored that NIO is included in FORTUNE’s 2020 Change the World list of companies that are doing well by doing good. FORTUNE’s annual “Change the World” list is intended to showcase the power of capitalism to improve the human condition by identifying companies that have made an important social or environmental impact through their profit-making strategy and operations.
Congratulations on NIO’s inclusion on the Change the World list for their persistiance in pursuing battery swapping technology, which once abandoned by Tesla in 2016 and also the failure venture of Better Place in 2013. NIO innovates the way they bring the battery swapping technology and position battery as a service (BaaS) which allows customers purchase a battery-less NIO and separately subscribe to chargeable, swappable, and upgradable batteries.
The model relies on a network of NIO Power Swap stations; there are 150 in China so far with addition of 1 or 2 stations building every week. NIO promotes the strategy as a way to lower costs—and appeal to drivers who prefer not to be limited to one power charing solutios. The approach aims to revolutionize the EV market with the strong support from government as well as the adoption of this technology by many other car manufacturers like Geely.
In long term, NIO would definetely gain its edges on their persistence over battery swapping innovation and truly change the world into decarbonized era.
1 Billion Kilometers Driven in Three Years
NIO users have accumulated more than 1 billion kilometers, saving about 500 million yuan in energy costs compared to fuel vehicles. According to NIO, it took 110 days to go from 0 to 100 million kilometers, but only 33 days to go from 900 million to 1 billion. Now NIO owners have covered 344 cities in China. In addition, NIO Pilot already has 20 assisted driving features and supports remote FOTA updates. In total, users have more than 1 million hours of NIO Pilot on, covering 70 million miles. NIO achieved 1 Billion driven KM in 3 years with 53,530 vehicles on the road. Tesla announced that 20 Billion Miles Driven on Battery Day which indicating Tesla is now 41.8 billion electric KM recorded in 9 years with 1+ Million vehicles on the road.
If we look back on Tesla at its year 3 for fair comparison, Tesla delivered 56,789 electric vehicles while NIO already achieved 53,530 vehicles without considering Q4 deliveries which we are expecting at least 15,000 vehicles to be delivered. Furthermore, the 70 million miles data collected in NIO Pilot is precious and essential key enabling the autonomous driving application in near future. For your information, Tesla currently collected more than 3 billion auto driving miles according to this source.
In summary, NIO is in better EV era and may surpass easily where Tesla was in its third year. What we want to see NIO next is to keep the high growth rate to acquire more user base in order to share a big EV market pie with others EV manufacturers in China.

Why the China Auto Show 2020 is most anticipated international auto show? According to Wikipedia, Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, Beijing Motor Show, or Auto China is an auto show held biennially in Beijing, China since 1990. At this auto show, NIO will showcase its entire line of car models, its Power Swap technology, NIO Space and NIO Life products.
One more fun fact you might not know about this auto show is that the entire auto show is managed by a group of passionate NIO user volunteers who are willing to spend their time for NIO just to get the words out to the public. When we find out about this fact, this is goosebump to us as NIO has this magic power to gather its car owners to do more with less budget.
Major OS Update & NIO Power Plan Announcement
At this Auto Show, NIO will announce the news about the NIO OS 2.7.0 version upgrade, and the Navigate on Pilot (NOP) pilot assist function will be officially launched.
In addition, NIO will also bring an upgrade plan for the destination fast charging pile service, which will further expand the openness of NIO's energy supplement system and continue to improve the charging experience for all the electric vehicle users.
NIO’s lifestyle brand NIO Life plans to release new IP and cross-border brand cooperation at the auto show, further interpreting NIO’s unique understanding and innovation in creating a pleasant lifestyle. (Source: NIO App)

September Delivery Estimate & Public Survey by NIOtime
We are nearing the end of September and you might know what that means for NIO as well as NIO investors. We are curious about how many of you are investing in NIO. You may comment on this post commenting I am in NIO after reading this post. This number is usually a growth indicator on NIO in long term. Last month’s delivery, NIO beat the August delivery record with a 104 % YOY. Will we see a similar trend on the September delivery number?
To add a new feature of NIOtime, we will publish our estimate near the end of each month. Our guess for this month is 4,199 (green color bar on the plot above) with a range of 4,000 - 4,400. The logic behind our guess is based on given guidance from last quarter earning report. NIO mentioned a 11,000-11,500 target for Q3. With two known delivery figures, this summarized a range from 3,500 and 4,000 for NIO to meet their target. However, we do see strong demand on NIO sales on the NIO app and forecast NIO would deliver more than their guidance by about 200 vehicles. Let’s see how close as soon as next week appraoching!

Do you know about NIO Summer? It is rarely published in the media. Over the past 3 months, NIO Summer’20 was now coming to a close with 1000+ user events across China and 18,000+ NIO owners and friends participating. This is their summer memory with the NIO brand.
